Monson Cemetery Commission
Thursday, April 5, 2012
The monthly meeting of the Cemetery Commission opened at 4:35pm in the office at 32 Wilbraham Road. Commissioners present were: Jim Duggan, Jim Metzger, and George Courtemanche. Also in attendance was Bob Haveles from Architect Insights. Minutes from our February 1st and 16th meetings were read and accepted and our March 8th meeting was not accepted as there were no minutes as there was no quorum and no meeting was held.
.
NEW BUSINESS:
New election and new realignment of Cemetery Commission. Discussion occurred to the current rank and file and after discussion a motion was mad and seconded that the slate would be: Chairman/Clerk – Jim Duggan; vice-Chairman – Jim Metzger; and member – George Courtemanche. Motion passed.
Bob Haveles was present to go over the Hillside wall project and the proposal that his company had created the time lines, photos and maps that would be used for the project and bid process. We reviewed them an approved them pending some language that we would present to the Town Administrator who is also the Procurement Officer.
Question from Gaylin on moving the records down to the Selectmen’s Offices where she works to have them easier to get at. We discussed this and voted to keep the records where they are for now pending the results from our grant application with Norcross Foundation.
OLD BUSINESS:
. Discussion was what steps we were going to take to replace our Superintendent and how we would proceed. We still have questions on what is going on with the budgets and the proposed grounds maintenance department, so until we get some answers we will hold off on posting or advertising.
Kyle was upgraded in pay as a result of the union filing a grievance on his behalf and he will oversee daily operations for the department but before any major decision or decisions affecting the spending of money, he must first run it past the Commission for approval.
The issue of the flags was discussed again and we decided to table any further actions on this until we can come to some kind of understanding with the parties involved.
Commission voted to have Kyle keep a daily log of what he is doing so that we can track time and duties he is performing for future reference.
Meeting was adjourned at 6:40pm
Next meeting is Thursday May 3, 2012, at 6pm.
Respectfully Submitted
James Duggan, Chairman/Clerk
